Here is is - the end of October 2024.  Where has this year gone?  Time is speeding quickly by.

Here in North FL we experienced 4 hurricanes in 14 months!!  Who would've ever guessed that!?  Our small community has had to deal with devastation on many levels, but the people have proven to be very resilient and are coming back stronger than ever.  Many, many trees have been decimated, Helene took out alot of buildings/structures.  We are still recouping losses and cleaning up the trees.  It will, literally, take years to be finished.

In the meantime, life goes on.  People have returned to work, attended functions, and are getting back to normal.

In In the Woods life has gone on also.    Appliances are still being repaired, quilts are still being made, gardens are still be planted/harvested, and we continue on.

We were just getting ready to pick up five of the grandkids when we had to postpone their visit due to Helene coming through.  So, now, we look forward to another time for them to visit with us.  In two short weeks we will have the twins with us again for a week. That will be fun and busy.

I need to download some pictures of what I've been doing here in the woods.  Lots of quilting and lots of cross stitching.  I'll take some time this week to do that.

So hot lately

Our weather has been crazy lately.  SO hot!!  Excessive heat warnings and watches quite often this summer.

Today we will be helping with our church's monthly Food Pantry.  We love to minister to others in this way - it's such a blessing.  We will need to purposely stay hydrated due to the heat.

Tonight we will be helping with a backpack distribution at our local elementary school - through our church.  We are trying to reach out more to our small community here.  This is one way that we hope will be effective.  After we finish there we will be headed out to eat with another couple.  We try to meet up with them each Tuesday.  We know them from our church down south... they attended there for a number of years before we all moved up here.  Great friends/good times.

Our day is actually quite busy, I realize as I'm sitting here typing this!!  WOW!  The rest of the week will be busy some days, not so much others.  Tomorrow I have some bookkeeping I need to catch up on- - - :( - necessary but not fun.  I have sewing and such to do also.  I'm making memory items for one lady at our church.  I have a memory quilt to make also - out of the shirts of the Dad of two girls I went to school with back a million years ago.  And then - family quilts that desperately need to get done.  I will be doing that on Thursday morning.  And then all day Friday and Saturday can be spent in my sewing room.  I love spending time there.

I'm going to be more intentional of taking pictures for this blog.  Then you can have a visual of my days.

For now, I'll close and go about my busy day.  Hope to take pictures along the way.
